It is well known that young people prefer scooters to bicycles . This is because scooters are much faster and do not need much physical effort . Also the rider can take a passenger with him on the seat behind . Further more , riding a scooter gives a young man a feeling of independence because he can travel farther and impress his friends . On the other hand , scooters have some disadvantages as well . It is very expensive to buy a new scooter . Also the cost of repairing a scooter is hight . Above all , scooters encourage young people to take risks by going too fast . Hence the accidents that are made by scooters are considered to be very serious and dangerous .
